Domain 6: Programs, Services, and Outcomes

Overview

The primary focus of this domain is on applying inclusive principles to the education of individuals with ASD by tailoring educational programs, services, and outcomes to each learner's unique needs. I have selected twelve competencies to demonstrate my knowledge of the continuum of educational services and the supports necessary to facilitate success in the least restrictive environment. These competencies highlight my ability to modify verbal and nonverbal communication, instructional behavior, and strategies to foster the development of independent living skills. Additionally, they emphasize teaching skills essential for effective communication across settings and throughout the lifespan, ensuring that each individual achieves meaningful and relevant learning outcomes.

6.1 Understand the general education curriculum and supports to facilitate learner success.

I learned the importance of effective co-teaching, collaboration, and evidence-based practices in supporting students with disabilities. This deepened my understanding of how tailored interventions and aligned teaching strategies can address individual challenges and foster academic success.
