Domain 8: Leadership & Policy

Overview

The primary focus of this domain is on utilizing resources and leadership strategies to create a supportive and inclusive environment for learners with ASD and their families. I have selected six artifacts, each representing a specific competency, to demonstrate my understanding of preparing personnel and community members for effective interactions with individuals with ASD, providing structure, ongoing training, and support for stakeholders. These artifacts highlight my ability to develop and monitor routines, schedules, and sequences of activities to optimize learner potential and foster an environment that promotes acceptance and meaningful engagement.

8.1 Use electronic, print, and organizational resources related to ASD.

I learned to effectively utilize electronic, print, and organizational resources related to ASD through the creation of You, Me, and Play Dough, a guidebook developed from the knowledge gained throughout this program. This resource demonstrates my ability to translate evidence-based practices into accessible and practical strategies for families and educators. By applying the tools and methodologies learned, I was able to create a bridge between theoretical research and real-world application, supporting individuals with ASD in achieving meaningful outcomes.
