My Choice: Sensory Integration
What resonated with me in this class is that being HFA does not mean that the individual does not have the same struggles another individual on the other end of the spectrum. HFA tends to lead us to believe that no services are needed and that the life-long outcomes are automatically better. However, the data shows that the outcome can be severe if no early intervention is provided. My EBP of choice for this class is Sensory Integration Therapy as it helps individuals with HFA improve their sensory processing which can result in more appropriate responses to different stimuli in the environment, help with increasing self-regulation which leads to increased emotional regulation, improve body awareness, and help with attention and focus amongst other areas.
